Scheduling Ad Extensions in AdWords
Ad extensions are an important feature for successful AdWords advertising. Although you never have full control over when and how ad extensions appear, many of the most useful extensions require either that you set them up, enable them, or that particular elements are configured to make them eligible to appear. Beyond basic enabling and configuration, there isn’t much else you can do, except decide to schedule times when you might not want them to appear.
Why you might want to use it
There are different reasons why you might decide to schedule ad extensions. One of the most common reasons has to do with phone calls and your hours of operation. For example, you can use call extensions to drive phone calls your business. But unless you have a call center that’s open 24-hours a day, seven days-a-week, you might not want to show your call extension during off hours, when no one will answer the phone.
Another reason you might want to schedule extensions has to do with certain offers, features, or promotions. For example, if you are a restaurant and have a different lunch special every day of the week, you might want to schedule callouts or site links that have to do with a certain day of the week’s lunch special.
Or, if your business tends to get one type of inquiry in the mornings, and a different type of inquiry in the afternoons, you might want to schedule callouts or site links that are more relevant for the time of day
Or perhaps your business offers a certain promotion like, “free shipping” on orders placed Monday through Thursday. You could promote this with the call out extension, and simply schedule it to be turned off on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
