  1. The very first thing your website needs to accomplish: Make them feel that they are in the right place! It should look and feel relevant and credible for what you do. There is a way to accomplish this that is straightforward and commonsensical (it’s really not rocket science). Local business listings are ranked by what could be called “business prominence” for the local area. Google search engine “spiders” are constantly picking up signals related to local businesses that indicate credibility, or a lack thereof. Having a large number of “citations” (mentions of your business) around the web is one of the keys to appearing more prominent than your competitors. The more signals Google finds about your business, the more established and credible your business appears. But consistency is a factor. Showing a consistent business phone number, business name, and business address is important.
